As opposed to Aubade, "music of the dawn", "noturno" is a concert given at night. In the eighteenth century, we meet the word notturno or Nacht-Musik applied to instrumental suites, entertainment or cassations. In the romantic era, the nocturnal became a piece of intimacy, a reverie.
